What Are CEREC® Same-Day Crowns?

CEREC® is advanced dental technology that allows us to create custom ceramic dental restorations right here in our Collinsville office. Instead of taking traditional impressions and sending your crown to a dental lab, we use a digital scan of your tooth to design your restoration with precision.

Once the design is complete, the crown is created in-office and placed during the same appointment. For many patients, that means walking in with a dental concern and leaving with a permanent restoration the same day.

What To Expect During Your Appointment

Your CEREC® crown appointment begins with an exam and digital scan of the tooth. This scan allows Dr. Liesen to create a detailed digital model of your tooth and plan a crown that fits your bite, tooth shape, and smile.

Once the crown is designed, our in-office CEREC® machine creates the restoration. After the crown is ready, Dr. Liesen will check the fit, make any needed adjustments, and bond it securely in place.

The goal is to restore your tooth with a crown that feels comfortable, functions properly, and blends naturally with your smile.

More Than Crowns

CEREC® technology may also be used for certain inlays and onlays. These restorations can be a good option when a tooth needs more support than a standard filling but may not need a full crown.

Dr. Liesen will recommend the most appropriate option based on the condition of your tooth, the amount of healthy tooth structure remaining, and your long-term oral health needs.

Are CEREC® crowns completed in one visit?

In many cases, yes. CEREC® technology allows us to design, create, and place a custom crown in a single appointment when the tooth and treatment needs are appropriate.

Do CEREC® crowns look natural?

Yes. CEREC® crowns are made from tooth-colored ceramic material and are customized to fit your smile. Dr. Liesen will check the shape, fit, and bite before the crown is placed.

Will I need a temporary crown?

Most traditional crowns require a temporary crown while the final restoration is made by a lab. With CEREC® same-day crowns, many patients do not need a temporary crown because the permanent restoration is created in our office during the same visit.

Can CEREC® be used for inlays or onlays?

Yes. CEREC® technology may be used for crowns, inlays, or onlays depending on the needs of the tooth.

How do I know if I need a crown or a filling?

A filling may be enough for smaller areas of decay or damage. A crown is often recommended when a tooth needs more strength and protection. Dr. Liesen will evaluate your tooth and explain which option is best for your situation.
